He's Growing!!!

Gavin update - he's a very smiley, happy, growing boy! I don't think we're far from laughter . . . it's too fun to meet milestones. They are amazing to experience and so enjoyable!!

Gavin is growing like a weed (which I'm sure you'll be able to tell from the photos)! At his 2 month appointment (May 18th)he measured in at:
11 lbs 12.5 oz (from 9 lbs 11 oz at 1 month)
23.5 inches long (from 20.5 at 1 month)

Since the last blog update (mid April), we have had a ton of visitors!! Grandma Bonnie and Grandpa Bill came out for about 5 days to meet their little guy and we had a blast. Gavin had lots of outings to the Snohomish restaurants and did some shopping with Grandma and mommy! Grandpa and Joe spent a few of the days working on the house (thanks Bill!!).

The last week in April brought my mom back from Chicago (she's staying until the very end of June when I finish teaching). She's really enjoying watching Gavin grow - I know she's very thankful to have this time as he is changing so much daily! The same day my mom flew into town, our great friend "Woj" came to visit Gavin and so did Ty (thanks again for the baby shower)!!

The very next week, Great Grandma Sara and Grandpa Ange were in Washington for a visit. Gigi spend most of her 2 day visit holding Gavin and loving every minute of it!!

Aunt Christy came next . . . it was so fun to watch her interact with her nephew. We had a great time shopping, going for walks around the lake, and heading out on the boat (while drinking great wine)!! It was so fun to have her out and are looking forward to her next visit with Uncle Mike and cousins Sophia and Alaina!

The last few weeks have been so much fun since Gavin has started to smile. His smile gets bigger every day - he gets more and more excited when he sees Joe, my mom and me. He also plays with his hands so much more. He's such a busy guy.

I have been back at work since April 30th - it's hard leaving each day but it's easier knowing Gavin is home with my mom and Joe (when he's not working at the house). It's also so nice that I don't have to get Gavin packed up and out the door - I would never make it to work on time!! The neighbors call my mom "the nanny" and we're very thankful to have her.

Joe's doing great - he works on the house 6 days a week and is doing awesome. He's making great progress . . . insulation is in, drywall is up and being taped as we speak, he's ordering floors and trim this week, and next up is paint!! The kitchen has been ordered and we're ready to start picking out toilets, faucets, sinks, etc. It's coming along and pretty soon we'll be in! We can't wait - the house is fantastic; so big (with lots of personality) as a first house for our growing family!

Enjoy the picks - I guess this would be better titled "Gavin in May", following suit from the last post. Once I'm done working, this house is done being built and we move, and Gavin sleeps in longer stretches at night (more than 3 hours), I will get at this blog more frequently for updates. By the time all that happens, I think he'll be laughing, rolling over, and possible sitting up (maybe that's a stretch)! Those will be far more interesting updates I'm sure!!!

Love you all!

Dre, Joe, Gavin and the animals (and Grandma Glo!!)

Grandma and Gavin

The Tulip Festival (oops - they are all gone!!) Bill was a great sport and got out of the car to capture the hysterical moment . . . Joe, Gavin, my mom, and I went 2 weeks previous and enjoyed this festival thoroughly (see April blog). Apparently it wasn't in the cards for the Cartwrights - maybe next year!!! We hit the bar instead (let's just say everyone was just as happy; maybe happier)!!
